Is all Moleskin the same?
Not all Moleskin is equal. Similar to how a connoisseur of say, bourbon or leather, will seek out products that are of a specific quality and expression of unique characteristics, a customer of Moleskin should do the same.
One can evaluate fabric on a wide range of dimensions, such as yarn composition and construction, finished weight, weave specification, tear strength, tensile strength and resistance to abrasion.
For example, with a denser weave of 100% cotton warp and weft yarns, the heavyweight M1A, from Brisbane Moss, is a strong expression of the classic dense, compact suede hand feel of vintage Moleskin; whereas the mid-weight Barcelona is a fantastic example of a hybrid Moleskin that uses 98% cotton, 2% elastane blend and looser weave which brings Moleskin into the modern era. The sturdy and nearly windproof M1A is a specification ideal for chore coats, field-wear or sturdy trousers and jeans. The Barcelona, with a lighter weight and touch of stretch, is well suited for sharp office shirting or casual weekend wear.
We have worked tirelessly to hand pick the perfect selection of moleskin fabrics for our garments. Check out our Moleskin Catalog for more detail on each of our specifications.
